Oat milk is simply rolled oats and water blended together then strained to leave the pulp behind. The result is easy, creamy, DIY oat milk!
Ingredients:

Recipe yields about 4.5 cups/1 liter of oat milk.

  • 1 cup / 2.5 dl old-fashioned oats
  • 4 1/4 cups / 1 liter cold water
  • Maple syrup, dates, honey or other sweetener (optional - added until desired sweetness)
  • A pinch of salt

How to:

  1. Add the water, oats, sweetener of choice and salt to your blender.
  2. Blend for around 30 seconds (If you blend it longer, the consistency of the milk can get slimy).
  3. Strain the mixture through your nut milk bag
  4. Taste and stir in more sweetener or salt if desired.
  5. Transfer to an airtight bottle and enjoy!
Use your homemade oat milk in coffee, baking, oatmeal and much more! It is also delicious on its own!
The milk lasts around 4-5 days in the fridge. If the oat milk separates, simply give it a good shake before using it.

Variations:

  • Use less water if you want a thicker consistency.
  • Try mixing in vanilla, berries, coconut or cocoa powder for a yummy twist! Simply put whatever you'd like to add in the blender with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Add a small handful of soaked cashew nuts when blending for a creamy consistency that is perfect for coffee.
